I started my career as a translator by passing the exam for Staatlich
geprüfte Übersetzerin (State approved translator)
in Saarbrücken, Germany. Later followed the Diploma
in Translation awarded by the Institute of Linguists (IoL)
in London, and the Membership Exam of the Institute
of Translation and Interpreting (ITI) in Milton Keynes.
This year it was suggested I should apply for Fellowship, and I am pleased to say that I can now put the letters FITI after my name.
I am also on the 'Approved Translators List' of Visit Britain
and the German Embassy in London; and I have recently completed a four-year stint as external examiner for postgraduate studies in German at the University of Westminster in London.
